Forest Drawings

In 2020, I embarked on a series of daily drawings with the forest—sometimes in sunlight, sometimes in moonlight, always in whatever conditions that day presented. Using charcoal on paper, I explored the expression of the hand in dialog with the trees and their surroundings. Towards the end of each month, I made a larger drawing that expanded on the movements recorded in the smaller works. Locating these gestures somewhere between automatic and asemic writing, this collection documents that journey.
